This is a Mommy & Me class that is very energetic and fun-filled! Watch with amazement as your little dancer grows and learns new skills before your eyes. Through the use of rhymes, stories, music, and extensive dance related activities your child learns to listen to a leader, follow group instruction, and have fun! This class is a great introduction to the world of dance.
The Broadway Babies class is designed to be an introduction to dance. In this 45 minute class dancers will learn basic techniques from Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. The class will focus on rhythm, body awareness, creative movement, numbers, colours, shapes and songs that help to develop their motor skills. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement
in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle bears and hula hoops, enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun!
Showbiz Kidz classes are a progression from the ‘Broadway Babies’ class. Dancers continue to learn a variety of techniques, but classes are narrowed to more specific styles so the dancers can pick which styles they would prefer to focus on. Dancers have the option to pick a 45 minute class of Jazz & Acro, Tap & Ballet, or Hip-Hop & Tap. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the specific styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will learn the foundation steps and terminology in both styles of dance. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun!
Jazz is one of the most popular forms of dance. It is a combination of both ballet and modern techniques. Cassiah’s Dance Company Jazz classes focus on the technical aspects of this style while incorporating upbeat popular music to keep the dancer interested and energized. While following the ADAPT Syllabus, the dancer will focus on gaining flexibility, strength, endurance, body alignment, and musicality.
**CDC offers jazz examinations for all students who meet the requirements of the graded curriculum**

Lyrical classes are taught with the aim of developing expressive dancers who are able to analyze song lyrics and tell a story through their movement. While taking lyrical, dancers will develop strength, control, and enhance their ability to interpret music.

Tap is a unique style of dance involving specific and rapid footwork. Tap shoes act as a drum, and each part of the shoe makes a particular beat and sound based on the dancer’s movement. Tap classes focus on developing coordination between one’s feet and the beat, while maintaining the ability to perform despite concentration. While following the ADAPT Syllabus techniques, the dancer will focus on gaining coordination, endurance, musicality and multitasking abilities.
**CDC offers tap examinations for all students who meet the requirements of the graded curriculum**
Ballet is the essential foundation for all styles of dance. Cassiah’s Dance Company ballet classes offer a disciplined atmosphere, focusing on the fundamentals as well as ballet terminology. While following the Vaganova method of ballet, students learn to dance with their whole body rather than isolating body parts into mechanical, separate movements. Not only do dancers develop poise, strength, and flexibility, but they also enhance their precision, attention to detail, and ease of execution.
**CDC offers ballet examinations for all students who meet the requirements of the graded curriculum**
Hip-Hop dance is made up of a wide range of “street dance” styles, associated with the Hip-Hop culture born in New York City in the mid-’70s. Hip-Hop classes at CDC incorporate a variety of hip-hop techniques and popular ‘party moves’, from the 70s to present day. While enjoying its high-energy music and movement components, dancers develop coordination, strength, and rhythm, leaving room for personal interpretation.

Musical Theatre is a style that combines three vital art forms; dancing, acting, and vocals (singing). While learning important foundations of stage performance, this style teaches dancers to analyze song lyrics and effectively communicate the story to the audience, through both vocal and physical expression. Cassiah’s Dance Company musical theatre classes are devoted to bringing DANCING, ACTING, and VOCAL technique training to each class. In addition to this, CDC puts emphasis on building confidence within students, preparing them for future auditions/performances in front of widespread audiences.

AcroDance is a style that combines acrobatic movements with nearly any style of dance. Merging together both dance technique and acrobatic elements leads to a seamless blend of the two within its unique choreography. Through acro classes, dancers will improve their flexibility, strength, and develop the control to perform tricks, balances, and tumbling. All Cassiah’s Dance Company acro instructors are trained members of the ADTA (Acro Dance Teachers Association) and focus on teaching proper progressions to execute safe and successful AcroDance technique.
Please note: Dancers must be enrolled in a dance technique based class in order to take an Acro class.
**CDC offers acro testing for all students who meet the requirements of the graded curriculum**
